Miniature Pool Readme File Version 1.0 Jan 14 2004 ====================================================================== Installation : -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Miniature Pool Demoexecutable should install the game under "programs/games/Miniature Pool" It will create a Level Data Directory which stores all the game data. The game will look for this folder where ever the executable resides. Requirements : -------------------------------------------------------------------- Miniature Pool requires Pocket Pc 2002 or Pocket Pc 2003 to run. How To Play -------------------------------------------------------------------- How to Play The goal of Miniature Pool! is to sink all of the pool balls in the least amount of shots possible. There are three courses with nine boards each. At the end of each course, you will receive a rank based on your score above/bellow par. Placing a shot Click the stylus anywhere on the board. A line will be drawn from the cue ball to the point you clicked. This line represents the direction and force of the shot. The green line extends all the way to the edge to show you the ball’s path. The white line represents the power of the shot. To adjust the force further, use the power control at the top left of the screen, or you can use the UP and DOWN buttons on your device. You will whiteline get larger. To adjust the angle, use the angle control at the top right side of the screen, or use the LEFT and RIGHT buttons on your device. English You can put spin on the ball by clicking the English button. A picture of the cue ball will pop up with a cross hair on it. You can adjust the spin by clicking to the left and to the right of the center of the cue ball. This represents where the cue stick will hit the cue ball. For example, to have the ball spin a little to the right, put the crosshairs a little to the left of the center of the cue ball. Click anywhere outside the picture to return to shooting mode. English settings remain until the next shot. Scratching If the cue ball sinks into either a hole or a water trap, you have scratched, and you are penalized 1 shot. You can replace the cue ball anywhere there is a placemat. Balls that have sunk after the cue ball are still considered sunk. Target balls that sink into water traps reappear on the board. Ball-In-Hand Sometimes you shoot yourself into a corner. If you think you have a poor chance with your current shot, you can click on the Ball-In-Hand icon to replace the cue ball onto one of the placemats. Standard Pool We decided to throw in a version of normal pool while we were at it. The game is eight ball, sink either the red or blue balls before your opponent can sink his in. Finish with the eight ball. The color you are to sink is determined by either you or your opponent. If you are the first to sink a ball, the color of the ball that you first sunk is the color you have to sink, and your opponent has to sink balls of the other color. The same rules apply if your opponent is the first to sink a ball. You maintain your turn if you sink at least one of your appropriate balls. You lose your turn if you sink the cue ball, or if you sink one of your opponent’s balls. You lose the game if you sink the eight ball before you sink all of your other balls, and if you scratch while sinking the eight ball. Trouble Shooting: -------------------------------------------------------------------- Problem : "Cannot find Miniature Pool or one of its components" Minature Poolrequires gx.dll to run, which is part of the game sdk. If your pocket PC did not ship with this file, you can download it from your pocket pc manufacturer. It is recommended to grab this file from the makers of your pocket pc. A general one may work but your manufacturer's gx.dll is tuned specifically for your pocket pc for performance. The game sdk which includes the gx.dll can be found here: www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d9879b0e-4ef1-4049-9c61-e758933d84c4&DisplayLang=en Rebooting your pocket pc helps reset the memory and reduced memory fragmentation.
